My Journey Thru GP509 (Galatians and Philippians)

By Dr. Grace Valdez

Going thru the class of Gp 509 was like having a spiritual gastronomic feast. It felt like I was having an employee orientation upon entrance to the company. Similarly I believe, every born again believer should have an orientation of the Kingdom of God, understanding salvation and knowing how should we live our lives thereafter being born again. How I wished that I could have this lesson when I was born again few years back. However, everything is in His time and God is never late. Why do I have to know this just now? Beats me! Only the saviour knows why and I trust in His perfect will for me.

The book of Galatians begins with a wonderful yet firm introduction the Magna Carta of Spiritual Liberty. Man was redeemed by the blood of the Lamb which was the only sacrifice that can satisfy the penalty of sin and justified us through faith and not that of ourselves lest we should boast.

I am awed by this fact that even before Christ came our God made such a covenant with man represented by Abraham on how salvation would start . Galatians 3:16 “ Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He said and not seeds, as many: but as of one , and to thy seed, which is Christ.”

But as I sit in class and understood the profound meaning of a God making covenant with a frail, weak humanity? How can this God make such a covenant with man wherein He knows he can never keep them? Would you? Would any practical minded man make a contract with a person who has no capacity to even fulfill his end of the bargain? But our God did! He made a covenant not only with Abraham but also with Jesus Christ (the seed). This is the basic grounds of security for any believer. So then Jesus proceeds to say in John 20: 28-30 “ I give unto them eternal life and they shall never perish ; neither shall any man pluck them out of my father’s hand. I and my Father are one.” All what the Lord Jesus now makes sense. God provided the plan of salvation thru Christ entering into the human race and paid the ransom for sin thru his death on the cross.” All I can say is WOW! He sure has great Love for us that he sent His son to die on our behalf. I am AWED STRUCK and can never get over it. On can never get over the gospel of salvation. As years pass by and I dissect every detail of its plan, I see myself. I am so unworthy, undeserving yet I receive such an opportunity among milions and billions of the human race to be able to know Him the One and Tue God. Can one really get over with such act the Father has done for us?

My only response to this knowledge of Grace is greatfulness and worship for what He has done. Our God deserves the worship of those he has redeemed. No words can describe such great love that he has bestowed. And wait! Theres even more! He didn’t only redeemed us, but wants to also transform us. His resurrection gave man the finality of what he hopes to be…the adoption of sons. Galatians 4: 5-6 “when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His son made of a woman, made under the law to redeem those under the law that we might receive the adoption of sons.” This process of adoption in the jewish culture when proclaimed publicly by the father results to the unity of the father and son. The father has publicly declared us as His sons and heirs. “ And because yea re sons, God hath sent forth the spirit of his son into your hearts crying “Abba Father” wherefore you are no more a servant , but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ

Every detail of privileges in the book of Galatians is so is profound. Being in IBI and knowing these facts brings tears to my eyes because when dig deep into Gods word it brings me to the greater detailed truth of what my God has done for me. Being in Ibi is like reading Gods love letters for me. Every detail he has planned with great care from creation, salvation and revelation. And when we read the truth we cant just help ourselves but align our lives to the truth. Obedience is easier because the reason for it is because we love the Lord and what he loves is what we love and that is His laws.

Truly enough, the word of God is right when it states , “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” 2 Corinthians 2: 9

To all believers out there , I encourage you to get to know the Lord in the beauty of his word thru IBI.
